CONTENT POLICY

For Australian Filmmakers
This Content Policy applies to all filmmakers and creators who submit or upload content to Boomirang. All submissions are reviewed against this policy before being made available to audiences.
Boomirang exists to showcase authentic Australian storytelling. We are committed to publishing content that is original, high-quality, and made by Australian creators. This Content Policy sets out the standards that all submitted content must meet.
By submitting content to Boomirang, you represent that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Content Policy, our Terms and Conditions, and our Terms of Use.
1. Eligibility
To submit content to Boomirang:
- You must be an Australian resident or Australian-registered entity.
- Your content must be primarily created, directed, written, or produced by Australians.
- You must have applied for and received Creator account access from Boomirang.
- You must own or have secured all necessary rights to upload and distribute the content.
2. Permitted Content
Boomirang welcomes a wide range of Australian original content, including:
- Feature films, short films, and anthologies.
- Narrative television series and mini-series.
- Documentary films and series.
- Reality television pilots.
- Sports documentaries and event coverage.
- Comedy specials and stand-up performances.
- Animation (where a majority of creative production is Australian).
- Web series and digital-first content.
3. Content Standards
All content submitted to Boomirang must:
- Be of a minimum technical quality — we recommend 1080p (Full HD) resolution or higher.
- Include accurate and complete metadata: title, synopsis, genre, classification, and year of production.
- Have clear audio that is intelligible and free from excessive distortion.
- Be accompanied by a cover image (thumbnail) that meets our technical specifications.
- Include subtitles or closed captions for all dialogue (required for accessibility compliance).
- Carry an appropriate Australian Classification Board (ACB) classification, or be submitted for internal classification review by Boomirang if not formally classified.
4. Prohibited Content
The following content is strictly prohibited on Boomirang and will be rejected or removed without notice:
Illegal content
- Any content that is illegal under Australian federal or state law, including content that incites violence, terrorism, or racial hatred.
- Content that depicts, promotes, or facilitates child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — reports will be made immediately to the Australian Federal Police and the eSafety Commissioner.
- Content that infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of any person or entity.
- Content that defames, harasses, or endangers a real individual without adequate legal basis.
Harmful and dangerous content
- Content that provides detailed instructions for making weapons, drugs, or carrying out criminal acts.
- Content that incites, glorifies, or trivialises self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders in a harmful way, without appropriate content warnings and context.
- Content designed to harass, bully, or intimidate a specific private individual.
Misleading and deceptive content
- Content falsely presented as factual documentary or news that spreads demonstrably false information.
- Synthetic media (deepfakes) of real people presented as authentic without appropriate disclosure.
Other prohibited content
- Content not primarily created by Australians or not primarily of Australian subject matter.
- Unsolicited commercial advertising or promotional content not approved by Boomirang.
- Content you do not have the rights to distribute.
5. Content Warnings and Classification
Content that contains mature themes, coarse language, violence, or adult material must be accurately classified and labelled. Boomirang uses the Australian Classification Board's classification framework:
- G — General audiences
- PG — Parental guidance recommended
- M — Mature audiences (15+)
- MA 15+ — Mature audiences, restricted to 15 and over
- R 18+ — Restricted to 18 and over
Submitting content with an inaccurate or understated classification is a breach of this Content Policy and may result in Creator account suspension.
6. Rights and Clearances
You are solely responsible for ensuring you have all necessary rights, licences, clearances, and permissions for all elements of your submitted content, including but not limited to:
- Music, songs, and sound recordings.
- Underlying literary, dramatic, or artistic works.
- Footage, photographs, and archival materials.
- Likeness and performance rights of any person appearing in the content.
- Trademarks and logos visible in the content.
Boomirang accepts no liability for rights infringement arising from content submitted by Creators. Creators agree to indemnify Boomirang against all claims arising from rights disputes related to their content.
7. Content Review and Moderation
All content submitted to Boomirang is reviewed by our moderation team prior to publication. We aim to complete the review process within 5–10 business days of submission. We reserve the right to:
- Approve, reject, or request changes to submitted content.
- Remove previously published content that is found to violate this Content Policy.
- Suspend or permanently revoke Creator account access for repeated or serious violations.
Moderation decisions are made at Boomirang's sole discretion. We will notify you of rejection or removal and the reason where practicable.
8. Reporting Violations
If you believe content on Boomirang violates this Content Policy, applicable law, or your intellectual property rights, please report it to:
hello@boomirang.com with the subject line "Content Report" and include: the title of the content, the reason for your report, and any relevant supporting information.
We take all reports seriously and will investigate within a reasonable timeframe. Reports of illegal content (particularly CSAM) are escalated immediately to the relevant authorities.
9. Takedown Requests
If you are the rights holder of content that you believe has been uploaded to Boomirang without your authorisation, please submit a takedown request to hello@boomirang.com with the subject line "Copyright Takedown Request". Include:
- Your name and contact information.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
- Identification of the allegedly infringing content on Boomirang.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorised.
- A statement that the information in your request is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the rights holder or authorised to act on the rights holder's behalf.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Content Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated to Creator account holders via email. Continued use of Creator features after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
